Makarova Ekaterina
Being the winner of the Republican English Language Olympiad at school entitled me to enroll in Kazan State University, the Department of the Romanic and Germanic Philology. The irresistible spirit of freedom and democracy appropriate to the university contributed a lot to my vision of the world and my personal growth. Since 2001 I have been working in gymnasia 122 as a teacher of the English language which allows me to indulge my passion for learning, sharing as well as mastering my teaching skills. I am particularly proud to have been teaching the lessons of English and American Literature at our gymnasia for some years which I hope kindle our students’ interest in exploring the world and making it a better place to live in. I am happy some of my students have become participants of exchange programs for students and studied in the USA, Finland, China. I am extremely grateful to my teacher and colleague Albina G.G. who has granted much of her patience, time, wisdom and knowledge to guide my mind in my teaching career. Together with Albina G.G. we have been running our school theatre group "Experimental Theatre 122” since 2006. In our theatre we welcome a dialogue and close collaboration between us, the teachers, and our students which as it seems to us appeals to our young actors a lot. We are also very thankful to our parents who have always been very supportive and caring to us. We have successfully participated in various city’s and Republican children’s theatre contests and were the first prize winners in 2007, 2008 and2009. We were honored to give our performances in school 39, school 18, at "The Theatre in Bulak” and at the Annual Students Festival of the English language at the Concert Hall in UNIKS. The marvelous feeling of experimentation and novelty as well as dedication to the theatre shared by the members of our theatre community has prompted us to broaden the geography of our creative activities. We are proud to say that we became the participants and the second prize winner in the IX International Youth Theatre Festival which was held in the Czech Republic and Italy in 2010. I was in charge of a Society of Young Teachers during the academic year 2009-2010 and did my best to be helpful to young teachers working in the Moscovscy District of the Kazan City. In 2009-2010 I participated in the project "English for everybody” and taught lessons of English in the group of volunteers. In 2009-2010 I was responsible for organizing the Final State Exams for the 9 form students which were held in gymnasia 75. Being a teacher is a rewarding job. By inspiring my students to make their " today” count I also feel my "today” being more meaningful to me too.
